“Happy Weiner Wednesday!” — sent to the police department

The textsReport: substantiatedKSTP / Star TribuneCited Apr 1, 2026

The formal complaint filed by Chief Axel Henry’s attorney says the mayor “used one or more mobile phones to communicate inappropriate, and, indeed, unlawful text messages.” Attached to the letter is a screenshot of a message about Weiner Wednesday. Officers really do have a Wiener Wednesday — a civilian employee brings hot dogs in for staff. That is where the name comes from. The investigators’ report, released October 1, dates the texts to March 25 and says they went to two officers on personal phones. The mayor does not deny sending them. She told investigators it happened outside work hours and that she never actually attended a Wiener Wednesday.

Happy Weiner Wednesday! Wish I was having a 🌭 with you all on 6 today!
Source: Letter from attorney Chris Madel to City Attorney Irene Kao, April 1, 2026, obtained by KSTP and the Minnesota Star Tribune. Outcome: Resolute Law LLC, Report of Investigation, Finding One, released October 1, 2026.

Where things stand: the city’s outside investigation did not substantiate sexual harassment or retaliation. The police chief’s lawsuit is pending and its claims are allegations. Mayor Her has apologized for crossing lines and says she will vigorously defend against the suit.
